The test can be performed on seal seams consisting of two flexible materials (e.g. peel pouch, plastic-plastic or plastic-Tyvek) or on seal seams consisting of one flexible and one rigid or semi-rigid material (e.g. blister with Tyvek lid). The test is carried out on a 15 mm, 25 mm or 25.4 mm wide test strip, which is cut perpendicular to the seal seam. The test method measures the force required to separate the seal.
This test method describes a procedure for measuring the mechanical seal strength of containers with a sealed lid (membrane). The force required to separate the entire lid from a rigid or semi-rigid container is determined. A tensile angle of 45° is tested as standard.
Whenever possible, we carry out our testing services in accordance with or based on these international standards:
We use the ASTM F88 / F88M and ASTM F2824 test methods for the following tests, among others:
Yes, the test methods according to ASTM F88 / F88M and ASTM F2824 are validated by us and accredited according to ISO/IEC 17025.
Since 1995, the services of our materials testing laboratory have been accredited according to ISO/IEC 17025. Our QM system is ISO 9001 certified.
